The Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging (i4a) announced that Linda Hildreth will assume the contracted i4a executive director position on January 1, 2023. “I am excited to join i4a in its mission to advocate and support older Iowans, individuals with disabilities, their family caregivers and partners, and the aging network,” said Hildreth. “During my time with the Iowa Department on Aging, I was encouraged by the tireless work and dedication of the Area Agencies on Aging and the great work they do.”
Hildreth retired from the State of Iowa after serving 36 years, twenty-five of which were with the Iowa Department on Aging, in 2021. Hildreth served as a facilitator for the State of Iowa’s Continuous Improvement Initiative for over 30 years and is a certified Green Belt for Lean Six Sigma. Additionally, Hildreth holds certifications as a trainer, facilitator, life coach for individuals and organizations, and is a certified mediator specializing in aging issues. Hildreth earned an MA in Business Leadership from Upper Iowa University with an emphasis on quality management and human resource management. “Linda has excellent leadership skills and is a tremendous advocate for older adults, “said Joe Sample, i4a’s current executive director. “I look forward to working with Linda in continuing our advocacy and support for Iowa’s Area Agencies on Aging,” said Sample.

Sample completed his doctoral program at Iowa State University in December 2022 and will assume the role of director of policy and outreach for i4a on January 1, 2023. The newly added position will provide i4a the flexibility to further strengthen its work at the federal level as well as the opportunity to utilize Sample’s leadership to continue developing i4a’s Dementia Friends Iowa program through the Dementia Friendly Iowa collaboration, assist with advocacy and association projects, participate on committees and stakeholder advisory boards, and work to promote growth in the gerontological workforce.
