The Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging (i4a) released its policy agenda January 2024. The association, which represents Iowa’s six Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), encourages Iowa’s General Assembly to ensure that Iowans living with dementia, and their family caregivers/care partners, have access to local resources, information, supports, and services by establishing a Dementia Services Program. Iowa’s AAAs are positioned to offer this essential assistance to meet the growing need for services and assistance for families experiencing dementia. Additionally, Iowa’s AAAs can strengthen Iowa’s community workforce with additional Elderly Services funds to help with funding local home and community-based organizations that provide essential services to Iowa’s older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers/care partners.
